This olive oil from the 2024 harvest originates from centuries-old olive groves at Herdade do Vale Feitoso, in Monfortinho, and is cultivated using organic farming methods. They are the pure expression of the olive oils from the terroir of Beira Interior.

Herdade Vale Feitoso is strategically located equidistant from the Iberian capitals Lisbon and Madrid, but also in a triangular shape with the city of Porto. Being a Luso-Spanish border territory, and part of the Naturtejo Geopark, located in Beira Interior, it takes advantage of and enhances the best that has already been developed, such as the Bio-Region. It comprises 7,500 hectares of an agricultural and forestry mosaic in co-association, which gives it a rare richness of biodiversity on an Iberian scale. Its forest meets the highest standards in terms of its management, being FSC and PEFC certified, an achievement reached as a result of the sustainable management practices, in environmental, social and economic terms, that are implemented. This excellence encompasses hunting management, where we can find deer, fallow deer, roe deer, Churra do Campo sheep, among others, in perfect harmony.

Vale Feitoso has a thousand-year history, in a region of Templars, where before them there was a Roman presence with ancient mining estates and the memory of the country's first orange grove. The carbon footprint of the entire production process was determined, from olive production in the olive grove, harvesting, oil extraction in the mill,

packaging and distribution, being offset by the planting of thousands of forest trees every year.

In about 200 hectares of the Herdade do Vale Feitoso there are so many varieties of olives that they are still under study for identification. This diversity of olive tree varieties – some are no longer planted in Portugal – as well as their dispersion across different micro-terroirs, are factors responsible for the complexity and differentiation of Herdade de Vale Feitoso.

Here we are not talking about an olive oil with a monovarietal profile. On the contrary, we are faced with complex olive oils, challenging in terms of aroma and taste, as well as in their ability to connect with food.

At harvest time and during extraction, the goal is to obtain olive oils that reveal the identity of the place and the culture that, in the wine world, is called a field blend. That is, olive oils that very well identify the varieties and the olive grove plot itself.

So, when making the batches, we opted to present olive oils with different gastronomic profiles.

The olive trees made this olive oil. It is necessary to emphasize this. We, at the mill, only have to select batches and understand what the best gastronomic combinations are. It is our understanding that an olive oil is equivalent to a rare spice – it serves to enhance what is already good in itself.
